A quick google search for a ‘photographer near me’ should be a simple process. However, in recent years, there has been a surge of family photographers on the market. While competition is great for many reasons, it makes it more challenging for the consumer to narrow down who will be the best photographer.
The criteria one has for such a search can, for some, be quite extensive. However, with many, I suspect are looking for something to ‘catch their eye’ and be within their budget.
Some folks will be looking for a more casual look to the photos. Some are seeking a more formal feel. We in photography call this candid vs. posed. These days you can find an abyss of each side along with an even greater abyss of everything in-between. Some folks will be looking for a more casual look to the photos. As you look around my galleries, you will see much more of a candid and documentary style of photographs. Family photographers sometimes refer to this as lifestyle photography. Sure, at the core, I do love some smiley, happy photos. However, some of my favorite child photography sessions have included photos where there are more serious faces. There is certainly value in those as well. With that said, during a family photography session, my goal is to do what it takes to get happy faces. Therefore, most galleries are fuller of those portraits. So if you are looking for a family photographer who will provide a virtual photo album of smiles, I’m your girl!
How gorgeous are this mom and her son. Their session was so sweet that I had to create a little wall display with a couple of their family photos. See it here.
