There is an old show business adage, often attributed to W.C. Fields, “Never work with children or animals.” This is obviously because both children and animals are unpredictable and uncontrollable. No matter what directions you might try to give them, you never know how they will react and behave. It is understandable how much of a liability that would be while doing a live show. As a photographer, however, that is exactly what makes working with children and animals so wonderful! I love that no matter what atmosphere or setting you may try to create or instructions you might give, a child or pet will do exactly what he or she feels like and it usually results in something even cuter and greater than you could have planned! The top picture below is the perfect example of this. That sweet pooch’s face peeking over the back of the couch; the adorable newborn’s hand placement and expression…just perfection! My favorite picture sans pooch is the last one with the perfectly timed gorgeous smiles on all three faces. Again, there is no way to plan it…it just happens organically and makes for photographic gold! This was such a fabulous newborn session!
