If you’ve read many of my posts, you may be aware that I have an affinity for all siblings, but there is an extra special place in my heart for sisters. A friendship with a sister is like no other and plays a huge role in establishing one’s feelings toward girls and women in general. I’m sure this isn’t true 100 percent of the time, but, from my experience, it seems that women who grew up with at least one sister have closer relationships with other women than do those who had no sisters. (It makes sense, right?) I have friends who only had a brother (or brothers) and they seem to have a bit more difficulty innately relating to their own sex. (Please don’t misunderstand me…I’m not saying there is anything wrong with them or that they don’t have girl friends…just that it doesn’t seem to come as naturally to them.) I hate that women are so often portrayed as being catty toward one another, when there are so many amazing examples of successful female friendships…women who strengthen and build each other up…women who empower one another. What on earth does any of this have to do with the pictures below? Well, these adorable sisters are such a fabulous example of how amazing female friendships can be. Yes, they are young, but I’d be willing to bet that throughout their lives they will remain best friends and fierce allies, no matter what challenges they may face. With the guidance of their fantastic parents, who promote love and teamwork rather than competition with each other, there is no limit what they can achieve. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we (women and men) viewed all women as our sisters instead of our adversaries? Excuse me if I’m sounding too sappy; I’m hearing Peppa Pig and her friends singing “Peace and harmony in all the world…” at the moment 😛 (Peppa, by the way, only has a brother, George, but has a close friendship with Suzy Sheep, so she’s kind of like a sister 😀 )
