I have so many great memories from my childhood. Some of the most vivid involve us going out as a family to pick out and cut down our own Christmas tree each year. I loved walking up and down the rows, checking each tree to find that perfect one. Thinking about it now, I can still smell that fresh, fabulous smell that would flood my nostrils as I scoured the beautiful conifers on display. Of course, as a child, my visions for a tree were significantly larger than the allotted space for our tree, so my “perfect tree” was forever out of my grasp. I would always end up settling for a perfectly lovely, but much smaller than I desired, tree that fit our space. (To this day, I’m still pining – pun intended, ha! – for that huge, perfect tree!) Although I never quite had the physical skill required, at my request, my very kind father would always allow me a go at cutting down our chosen tree. After a few attempts with the saw and barely a scratch on the trunk to show for it, my dad would take over and have our tree down in no time. I was always so impressed with his skill and strength when he did this. Stand back, Paul Bunyan, because in my eyes, in those moments, he was the greatest lumberjack that ever lived and I couldn’t have been prouder of him!
These are the kind of beautiful moments and memories that take place at Old Time Christmas Tree Farm , where I had the privilege of photographing the precious family you see below. (There are all kinds of other fun things to do there too, so go to their site for all the info!) If you aren’t eternally committed to the dark side of artificial trees (just kidding), you should check them out, find a gorgeous tree, make some lovely family memories and have me photograph them for you! 🙂
