Most of the time, there is a bit of a warming up period during a photography session. This pretty much happens during the first maybe 5-10 minutes of our session. It is most common when I’m shooting a new family that I have never met or photographed before. During this time, it is not only about my clients become more comfortable with me, but it’s about me observing and listening to get a feel for the direction I feel is best suited for our time together. This also happens with returning clients, but it is much less common. It is also a good reason (among many) for having your family photographs done at least once a year. Sure, it’s always going to be somewhat awkward. Even for professional photographers, it is very difficult to be in front of the camera, but the more you allow your kids and/or family to be photographed, the more comfortable everyone will be when the time comes…and more importantly, the more beautiful the images when everyone is just being themselves. 😀
However, this family, was the exception. They were so comfortable and fluid from the start. I’m sure there are a list of reasons we could come up with as to why they were the exception, but it really doesn’t matter. They just were. It was so refreshing to meet this family and be able to photograph their family this season. Thank you guys for being you and just letting me capture that! 😉
