My last grand parent passed away when I was in High-school. I never had the opportunity to know three of my grandparents….my mom’s parents only lived before I arrived. I did get know my grandmother, my dad’s mom at least a little. Now that I am older, I realize there was so much I never knew about my grandmother who was living. I was a kid and as many kids do, I took for granted that even just one grandparent was living. I think now of all the questions I would love to ask her now…all the stories that I could have heard first hand about her life….her loves….family….everything. If we are being honest here, it makes me feel terribly guilty for not making more of an effort to know her more while she was here on this earth. 🙁 I try not to dwell on it too much, but what I would give to have her back if even for a day!!
I only have a handful of photographs of me with my grandmother…oh, how I wish there were more.
When Miss S contacted me to get some photographs of her children with both their grandfathers, I was so excited! I so enjoy these sessions. The kiddos gave us only about 2-3 minutes with each grand…I mean, they are small children so we were so happy to get what we did, but I know that these photographs mean so much to this family! And no doubt, they will be cherished for many generations to come!
If you are considering having an extended family photography session, please don’t hesitate to get your own family memories such as these!
Carpe diem!!!!!
