Some of my favorite types of photography sessions are the simplest. Like this one: just a couple in their home with their very new baby. When you’ve recently (and I do mean VERY recently) had a baby, the last thing you want to do is leave your home with that baby. That’s why I love these in-home newborn sessions. A couple and their child (or children) can just relax in (nicely lit areas of) their home and I photograph it. It’s natural, real, casual and comfortable (for everyone).
Seeing new parents with their precious little baby is so beautiful. I want to capture the feeling of how mesmerizing it is for them to just hold and stare at this new, perfect little life they created. I remember how incredible it was to hold my little boy for the first time and how for the next several days (maybe weeks!) I had a hard time prying my eyes away from him. (Truth be told, I still sometimes catch myself just staring in awe at the gorgeous, rambunctious toddler I first laid eyes on as a tiny, goo-covered creature!) The older they get, though, the more comfortable we get with the fact that they WILL continue breathing if we look away from them! 🙂
