I came across this photograph again just recently. There is another specific photo that I’m pretty sure I shared a while back that is similar (and from the same session) as this one, but this one has radiated with me today so much.
Why, you ask? Well, this photo was taken when this sweet girl still was just barely still resembling a baby. Sure, she’ll always be her momma’s baby girl, but let me explain further. There are only a very limited number of days that a child still has a bit of the ‘baby’ look to them. Then somewhere around two or two and a half or so, each child is a little different, of course. But somewhere in almost the blink of an eye, your baby is not a baby anymore. They begin to take on the look of a child and not a baby. Okay, so I’m rambling a bit, but I think you see my point. For this sweet girl, these weeks surrounding this session were just those last, fleeting days of her ‘baby’.
It happens so fast. So bittersweet, but yet so amazing and beautiful. This is why I love photographs so very much. So often times you don’t even fully appreciate them until years later. It is one of the few things in life that actually increase in value…heart value, that is, over time. 🙂
