One of my favorite moments in a newborn session is when that sweet, sleeping child gives a pure, perfect smile! It doesn’t happen during every session (don’t worry, we still get gorgeous newborn shots!), but in some sessions it happens more than once, which was the case with the photos you’ll see below. I love the anticipation leading up to those sleep smiles! We are all just watching, waiting quietly to see what this precious new life will do, trying not to wake her in the process…then all of the sudden it’s like a light from Heaven shines down when this perfect little creature’s mouth forms the slightest little smile! In all likelihood, she probably did a little toot or something and that’s what caused the smile (ha!), but that’s not important! If you don’t let out an audible “Awww…” when you see a sleeping baby smile, you might need to seek professional help! Each time I capture one of these smiles in a photo, I feel like my heart expands slightly and that I’ve gained additional capability to love life just a bit more. Yes, sleeping baby smiles make me feel like that; I don’t care if they were caused by gas! 😛
