In preparation for my baby boy’s first birthday coming up in just a month…(sniff, sniff) I’ve been trying to go through and fully organize all the photos I’ve taken of him each month. Contrary to what you might think, I have not completely gone bananas with photos of him. I’ve really made a point to try and balance life which means having a life outside of photography. While photography is very much a major part of me and who I am, my photography does not define who I am as a person…as a daughter, friend, sister, wife and most certainly not who I am as a mother now. I don’t want my son to grow up not having me actually BE in the moments with him. I don’t want to always have my camera in hand.
Anyways….my point is that I came across these photos I took of him right as we were about to leave our hotel in Colorado back in January. His daddy was loading up the car and I decided that I just had to take a few photographs of this sweet boy on the bed. The light was just beaming in. Not the really warm, Texas light that I am used to, but instead, a much cooler, truer white light. I’m sure because there was so much snow outside as a vibrant reflector. These photos just remind me how much he’s grown and how glad I am that I took the ten minutes and got these shots before we headed out. This was our first trip with him. His first airplane ride, of which he will not remember, but was such a great little flier. No trouble at all. Overall, he was the most wonderful traveler. Sure, he was only 7 months old and didn’t know any different, but let’s just hope it’s a catalyst to many more easy, fun travels with him in the future.
These pics were just too sweet not to share. Hope you enjoy. 😉
