The many facial expressions of newborn babies are so fascinating to watch! Their eyes are constantly adjusting to light and trying desperately to focus on the new world around them. Their mouths and tongues are almost always moving, whether asleep or awake, alternating between practicing nursing, smiling, grimacing, yawning and a whole range of other movements which I couldn’t possibly describe. I love ALL of the amazing faces that newborns make!
These interesting, adorable and sometimes comical expressions are part of how babies are adjusting to and taking in this giant, unfamiliar world in which they now live. Long before any self-consciousness sets in (and certainly WAY before they will take a zillion selfies to get the most flattering angle and facial expression), these little ones have neither concern nor concept about whether or not they have the slightest photogenic quality. They simply exist and, in doing so, are absolutely perfect. Case in point: this sweet little guy (in gorgeous dark teal blue…LOVE!) whose facial expressions are just priceless!
