I’ve recently had some questions about my “process” for taking underwater photographs, so I figured this is a great place to give some answers in case any of you are interested!
Q: Are you actually under the water taking the pictures?
A: Yep. I’m under the water the entire time my clients are…desperately trying to take pictures in focus with all the movement (their’s, mine and the water’s!) happening!
Q: How do you keep your pool so clean?
A: I have an AMAZING husband!
Q: Do you have a special underwater camera?
A: Nope. I have a special underwater casing for my camera. It’s awesome.
(My favorite question)
Q: Are you able to breathe in your goggles/mask?
A: Yes, my $8.99 mask from Walgreens has the tiniest little oxygen tank which supplies me with air to breathe while I’m underwater! LOL…no. (How awesome would that be though!?!?) I have to hold my breath just like my subjects do. I don’t have any sort of super-human lung capacity, I just challenge myself to hold my breath until I get the shots and try again if it doesn’t work the first dozen or so times. The old adage “If at first you don’t succeed…” is certainly true here!
Now that you know a little bit more about how these pictures are taken, enjoy these underwater shots of this adorable little girl!
