Images like this are actually more difficult to get than one might think. I’ve photographed many births over the years and this was the first time I was given the change to even get this shot. Reason is that amidst everything that is going on during a birth, it is more often that the doctor does not hold the baby up like this. At least in my experiences photographing births, the priority, once the baby makes their entrance they are more often placed on the mother’s chest first, which is great of course. It all happens so fast and maybe many doctors just don’t think to hold the baby up so that the mom can see first. Well, whatever the case may be, I am so elated to have gotten this shot and so thankful for this wonderful OB that sort of gifted it to me. I wanted to kiss him at this very moment. I mean, come on, it’s like such a fantastic capture, right!!!??? 😉
