One thing about me is that I like to keep things simple. There are many different colors of simple. What I mean is that I don’t like too much fuss over things in general. As my dad always said to me growing up, “don’t sweat the small stuff”. This radiates with me so much lately and in particular in my business. I’m not one for a bunch of props or (in my opinion) silly, over the top setups that have no real meaning for your family. We’ve all seen a few of these over the years, surely. However, there is nothing wrong with having a vision of our session. Having ideas of what you’d like your photos to look like…think more clothing and location…not props or sets. I love input. If you have it, great. If not, rest assured, I have more than enough locations in my back pocket and plenty of ideas when it comes to clothing selection. Your own vision or not, I have an amazing session waiting for you. 😉 Most certainly I love shooting at fabulous locations. So, if you know of one…by all means, let’s go there and shoot your session! For this session, my client wanted to have the session at her family farm where she grew up. Very cool, right? 🙂 And furthermore, if you want to have special made clothing for our shoot…YES! Please go for it! As with this session, my client had a custom dress made. Certainly this is a very special occasion of a baby on the way. Maternity photos (sometimes) only come once in a lifetime for some, so it’s okay to make them EXTRA special. I would certainly not expect any client to have custom clothing made for a session, but hey, if you want to…I say do it. If you want to spend a little extra on a special hair piece….YES! Do it! There are so many fun options on Etsy. As did my client for this session. Very cool. She’s a cool girl, what can I say. hehe. xoxo But be sure that these are things that represent YOU or whomever will be wearing them.
So even though I like to keep things simple, I very much enjoy when my clients take a little extra care in selecting what they will wear for our session. If you are investing in custom photography, why not go the extra mile and do something a little special? Anyway…here is a sneak peak of this glorious, magical maternity session I recently shot. Dreamy, eh? Stay tuned. More to come from this session soon….including horses!!
