It is always interesting to go into a newborn shoot and not know what to expect or how it’s going to go. (This is kinda true for all types of sessions, but newborns present their own challenges since they pretty much just do what they want and you have to figure out how to give it to them so that they’ll give you great pictures!) If you’re the kind of person who thinks something along the lines of, “Oh, a baby’s a baby…he will probably just sleep and you’ll snap some pictures…no biggie…” well you couldn’t be more wrong! (I’m pretty sure that people who feel that way are probably not reading a family photographer’s blog though, so I doubt any of you feel that way. It just seems like there might be people out there who don’t realize how complex and particular these tiny newborns can be. Just sayin’ 🙂 .)
Anyway! One of the many differences I find with the newborns I photograph is that some love to be sprawled out, free and unencumbered and others love to be swaddled. I love them all, but I have a special place for those who love to be swaddled. If you’re wondering why, just take a look at this gorgeous little fella below and see how precious he looks swaddled up all cozy and content!
