This is the second appearance of this good-looking family. I previously blogged about them being in a transitional period, as their little boy is in that phase where infancy gives way to toddlerhood (is that a word? If not, it should be). There were too many fantastic photos from this session, however, so here they are again!
I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is that I loved so much about this session and the photos that resulted from it. I guess it’s just a combination of several things that I really like which turn these pictures into ones that I love. The style and natural photogenic quality of the subjects is, of course, a large factor. Seriously, are these people capable of taking a bad photo?!?! Then there’s the sunlight teasing its ways through the leaves in the way that I have adored since childhood. Ultimately, though, I think what really sets these pictures apart for me is this huge, amazing tree, with its grand, gnarled branches (it has SO much character!). Maybe it’s because I’m more used to seeing pine trees (which are lovely, but, let’s face it, they pretty much just go straight up and down…not a whole lot else going on). Trees like this look like they have so much history and I would love to know it! (Is it weird to want to have a conversation with a tree? I’m sure it is, but if trees could talk, this is one with which I’d like to converse! I promise I don’t do drugs.) ANYWAY…if you know of any places with interesting features that would photograph beautifully, let me know! I always love to check out new locations!
