“My fingers may be small, but I’ve got my Daddy wrapped around them.” ~Unknown (or Every little baby girl who’s loved by her daddy 🙂 )
New parents are always super sweet to photograph with their recent arrival, but one of the absolute sweetest things to witness is a big, strong daddy holding his teeny tiny little baby. This seems especially true when that baby is an itty bitty girl…the contrast is just so stark and captivating! I’m certainly not downplaying the bond between a father and son (or a mother and her child), but there’s something so special about the relationship between a daddy and his daughter. You can sense the protectiveness when he holds his precious little girl.
There’s a Collin Raye song from 1995 called “I Think About You”. One of the main lines of the chorus is, “I think about you and I can’t help but see that every woman used to be somebody’s little girl.” When a man becomes a dad to a little girl, it seems inevitable that he’s going to contemplate the way he has viewed girls and women throughout his life. No matter how well he has treated them, it’s almost certain that he’s going to want his daughter to be treated even better. This little girl is now the center of his universe and he will do everything is his power to make sure that she is protected. I definitely get that feeling when I see these pictures.
