So in my last post, I talked about the love and adoration that an older child has for their newborn sibling. Well, sometimes that older “child” is actually a pet which views itself as the true firstborn and has no concept that it isn’t human! And sometimes that pet’s feelings toward the firstborn (human) baby include: curiosity, annoyance, jealousy and/or indifference. (I experienced all of these firsthand with our pet/”fur baby” when our son was born!)
This cute pup below clearly doesn’t quite know how to feel about the newest (and super adorable!) addition to the family. I can’t help but want to caption some of these pictures with what I imagine this dog is thinking. (Starting from the top picture avec pooch): “Are you SURE he belongs here?” “Maybe he’s kinda cute…let me get a closer look and smell.” “Do you still love ME?” “I was here first…what’s so great about that little thing?” “Whatever…I’m over it…I’m taking a nap.”
I’m sure the love will grow as this precious newborn does 🙂 .
