As a family photographer in Houston, Texas, I get to meet some really awesome people. I’ve been fortunate to have met and connected with a small group of ladies in my area who are also photographers. This group has really been such a blessing for me as I transitioned into photography full time. While there are many perks to this career path, working from home every single day has it’s challenges. One of the main things I missed about my other career when I left was having the opportunity to chat with others in my field. People to bounce idea off of or ask for help when I’ve hit a roadblock. Those who truly understand what you might be going though because they have been there before you or may be going through something similar right now. My sweet husband is so wonderful and supportive. And I have many friends who will always lend a listening ear, but I really feel like being able to openly talk to those who do what you do is the most helpful..because they ‘get it’.
Anyway, I was overjoyed recently to be hired by one of the wonderful ladies in that little circle of photographer friends. I had never met her family, but they the most fun ever to work with! I admit that older children intimidate me a little bit. They tend to be more reserved and such. Maybe a little at the very beginning this was the case, but quickly they opened up and really gave me more than I could ever have imagined! Such vivacious energy and happy personalities. To think that we nearly were rained out this particular night, but thankfully this family kept the faith and indeed the weather held out for us. YAY!
