I have taken more maternity photos than I could possibly count and I know I’ve previously gushed about how much I love pregnant ladies and their beautiful bellies. For some reason, however, with each maternity session I shoot, I’m always surprised at just how much I adore radiant mommies-to-be!
I probably shouldn’t be so affected by them. I’ve done this enough times that that “new belly smell” should have worn off (errr…maybe that’s a weird way to put it…I swear I don’t smell anyone’s belly…it’s just the expression that seemed to fit…sort of 😛 ).
Anyway, what I really mean is that when I look at these women I see so much more than a belly. I see a beautiful, excited, expectant mother with a new life growing inside her. No two are the same. Each one represents a unique life (or lives) that will make his or her (or their) mark on the world. I wish that I could watch the whole life story play out for each mother and child! If only that were possible! The closest I can get is to capture some of the lovely moments when mother and baby are the closest they can possibly be.
It doesn’t get much lovelier than this!
