Houston Children's Photographer bio picture
  • I like to think I catch the divine in the ordinary using natural light and everyday settings. My style is pretty simple. It’s a dab of traditional studio (for my youngest clients) mixed with modern lifestyle portraiture. Candid shots are my favorite. I want to capture your child’s spirit and personality, even if that's not a traditional smile. Kid's are my specialty, but also enjoy capturing the entire family, from newborns to high school seniors. I shoot on location in Houston, Texas and surrounding areas. I'm from a small East Texas town and have hippy-like tendencies. After college, I ventured to the city, which is now home with my husband and our dog, Cocoa. Faith, family, friends, food, fashion & fabrics consume my mind when the shutter is not clicking. Custom photography is a luxury, but I promise it will be worth every penny. I look forward to sharing my love of photography with you and your family!

Fun at Sunset | Houston Family Photographer

I love sunset silhouette photographs.  I think they are more of art than anything else.  I could not resist one of these shots to end a most awesome session recently.

I know they were a little embarrassed as I made then pose for this picture.  The spot is right off a main, highly traveled road.  I guess you could say we had a big audience…but this pic was totally worth it!

(thanks guys for being troopers for me and honoring my silly request)

These can be blown up really big without any concerns.  I would do this in an acrylic print.  Sized at about a 20×40.

And it would look something like this on your wall.  Pretty cool if you ask me.:-)

Mr. Rosey Cheeks | Houston Child Photographer

Let me preface by saying this is my cousin.  Is he adorable or what~!!??

First of all he has the most piercingly blue eyes.  All you have to do is catch them in just the right light and BAM!  They are incredible.

Then there are his cheeks.  The most wonderful, sweet cheeks.

There is a little joke in the family that he always looks like he has blush and worse….lipstick on.  he-he.   But I assure you he doesn’t.  His cheeks are always so rosey….basically all the time and his lips always look very red.  In some cases, a photographer like myself might feeling inclined or a little pressured to Photoshop those cheeks and lips so that they are not so red.   Not me.  No way, Jose. :-)I want photographs of your child to represent them just as they are.  I want real pictures of your kiddo.  If your baby has rosey red cheeks, then by golly, the photograph should celebrate those beautiful cheeks!  And what’s so wrong with red lips….???  Exspecially if they are naturally so.  If your sweet child makes funny faces all the time, then I want to capture some of those funny faces.  And so on.  I think you are gettting the picture.  This is your child and all the things that possibly annoy you or you don’t find to be your favorite attributes at this time of them, I am certain will one day bring big, and I am BIG smiles to your face when you are reminded of them.  So, it might be a lifetime from now, but you will.

New Packages | (semi boring) business stuff

It’s something that has been bothering me for sometime now.  And I mean, really bothering me.

Basically every session.

Which for me, these days, means…

a lot.

{thank you for keeping me busy}:-)

It’s this thought that all your favorite photos right now will not necessarily be your favorite photos in 5, 10 or 15 years for that matter.  Sure, some of them will be, but more often I think that years from now when you look at ALL your photographs, there will be those that did not speak to you before and right in that very moment, when your child is grown, you’ll appreciate and see the photographs that weren’t really your ‘favorites’ now have a whole new meaning and you will fall in love with certain images like never before.  It truly pains me to think that my work will be in vain AND you will miss out on a 2nd chance to fall in love with your images.

I know, I know…I am a little CrAzY.  #thethingsIthinkabout

{okay…switch gears with me….a little bit here}

In my dream world I would know exactly how to perfectly run a photography business.  Well, guess what?  This is the real world and that means learning as you go.

As most of you know me, know that I am not a hard core sales person.

I pour my heart and soul into your sessions.  I can’t tell you how amazingly rewarding this work is for me.

I love the opportunity to capture these moments in time for you.

I love meeting you; getting to watch your kiddos grow and feeling part of an honored club to be a part of your lives.

I want to photograph families for years and years to come.

And I want to work smarter, not harder.

I want to create and commit to quality without compromise.

It’s hard.  It’s incredible hard especially when your children are so beautiful!

I was either going to have to double (or maybe triple-no kidding) my current pricing…

OR

set some real boundaries for myself.

{which is the option I am choosing}

I admit

I tend to go overboard at times.

Now it’s time to have some self control.

It’s time to stick to more strict time limits.

And time to sacrificing my energy and time away from my family on the things that are not

completely…

whole heartedley…

no question about it…

THE BEST practices for the longevity of my business…

my health…

the integrity of my product….

and the most joyful satisfaction for you, my client.

{gear switch}

This whole concept of let me lure you in with a lower cost initial investment…

then upsale you after the fact…hhmmmm.

Although I am by all means not knocking this type of business model because it works very well for a vast number of business professional (aka photographers),

what I have concluded is that this type of business model

does not

and

will not work for me.

So, I am not even going to attempt to try this model and longer.

So…..

{you still with me??} HA!

I am going to lay it all out there.  You will know upfront and very clearly what you get and what it cost.

No bait and switch.

I am rolling out new pricing and packages.

I’m going to try and make it really simple.  Less is more, right? :-)

I’m tired of being sad when everyone doesn’t’ have ALL their edited proofs from their session.  And, seriously, it makes me really sad.

I’m tired of also being sad to think that you don’t have at least a few of the images from our session displayed at your home, to enjoy daily.

All packages will include your digital images with print release and something tangible for you to keep to showcase on your walls.

YAY!  I’m excited for these new collections and hope you are too!

You will still be able to order professional prints at reasonable pricing for up to 3 months, which I highly recommend for the most beautiful display of your images.

And you will still get a fun sneak peek within a week of your session.  Although, the sneak peek will be 3-8 pictures.  {it’s me and that self control thing again}

There is really not any major changes.

I will still be pouring my heart and soul into your families photographs.

I will still be putting in 110% of myself to ensure the most high quality images for you.

So don’t worry~

You will be benefiting from these changes as much

if not more

than me. :-)

Thank you all so much for your continued support of my business!!

Thank you for hangin’ in there with me as I grow.

{BIG HUGS!!!}
